Historical development

The application of ozone in cold storage has been nearly a hundred years of history worldwide. In 1909 the French Debord refrigeration plant used ozone for sterilization of frozen meat. In 1928 Americans in Tianjin established an "egg factory", and its egg- breaking room used ozone for disinfection. In our country, the application of ozone in cold storage and fresh started late, but with the improvement of manufacturing technology of ozone generator, the application of ozone in cold storage is more and more extensive.

Principle

Ozone is oxygen allotrope, molecular formula for O3, and has the same composition elements with O2. They have the same forming shape, but are completely different in nature. Chemical properties of ozone: it has strong oxidation ability in the standard pressure and temperature. Its water solubility is 13 times the oxygen and 1.658 times the air.

Ozone is very unstable, easily broken down into O2.Through its strong oxidation property, it can be used for cold storage disinfection, disinfection, deodorant and preservation. Due to its unstable property, it is more advantageous to use it for storage in cold storage, for it is the final decomposition product is oxygen, and it will not leave harmful residues in the fruit and food.

According to Tsinghua University study, ozone in the freezer has three aspects of mechanism: microbial killing, sterilization and disinfection; the second is the smell of organic and inorganic oxidation deodorization; the third is oxidizing the metabolism product, thereby inhibiting metabolism and play a role in the durability, preservation.

Application in everyday life

It is effective to use ozone for keeping fresh due to its physical and chemical properties. Somebody did an experiment to test its preservation effect. In this experiment, he installed ozone generator on the wall above 2 meters from the ground and kept the machine working for 2 hours every day. Meanwhile, it is better to keep the garage door closed. It is also necessary to maintain and increase the concentration of ozone to 12---22 mg / kg, and indoor humidity control in about 95%. In the case of larger humidity, the effect of sterilization can be greatly improved.
